Since a church was first established on the site in around 850AD Ormskirk has had a interesting and varied history, being at times dominated by agriculture, industry and now education. Our Ormskirk timeline, whilst far from exhaustive charts the key developments and interesting historical events of a town as it has developed over a period of well over 1000 years. We will be adding to the timeline regularly as our research uncovers new facts about the town.
